2022 Ford Edge Redesign, Specs, Prices, & Rumors. The 2022 Ford Edge will bring minor changes. This is the second year in a row the US carmaker is not bringing big updates for its midsize SUV. Still, Edge will be fresh, since the facelift in 2019 came with some attractive solutions. Ford is working on new packages and now we have a premium Platinum Elite and the performance-oriented ST SUV.

The entire lineup is using a turbo-four engine as the source of power. The 2022 Ford Edge ST comes with a special upgrade in the tuned V6 unit. With 335 hp, it is a hell of an output. Edge is a family SUV, but it offers only two rows of seats. Buyers are finding a three-row Explorer more convenient. Still, five-seaters in the mid-size segment are also quite popular with a more efficient ride and better handling.

The price of the 2022 Ford Edge will start around $31,000. Heavily loaded model with premium options can go up to $45,000. Without further upgrades, the ST will start around this price.

2022 Ford Edge Trim Levels and Features

Unchanged, the Edge SUV is entering the market with the SE package. The base trim level is using some cool features and we can highlight 18-inch wheels outside, Co-Pilot aid and rain-sensing wipers. The infotainment screen could be bigger. The standard offer includes a 4.2-inch display. The SEL adds an 8-inch screen. Rear parking sensors are there, as well as the Sync3 infotainment system. You will see the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are missing from the entry-level package. In 2022, Edge could fix that. Front seats are power-adjustable on the SEL trim.

The most exclusive offer comes with the 2022 Ford Edge Titanium package. Leather upholstery covers seats, the tailgate is hands-free, and a premium audio system comes from the famous B&O. Wireless charging is also there, while the Titanium Elite upgrade is optional. In this case, you will also get special paintjob details, skid plates, and 20-inch wheels. Enough for the SUV to become recognizable.

Titanium is a premium model, but not the most expensive. A V6 engine slots the 2022 Ford Edge ST above its sibling if we compare prices. Most upgrades will boost the performance, so we have the special suspension setup and all-wheel drive as standard. The ST model also uses leather for upholstery. ST badging will unveil the SUV on the road if you miss other upgrades.

Specs

There is a four-cylinder and a V6 engine available for the 2022 Ford Edge. Bigger displacement is being used only by the ST model. The base configuration is combining a 2.0-liter engine and the front-wheel drive. It is capable to deliver 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. Honda Passport and Nissan Murano are using a V6 right from the start. The turbo-four is competitive.

The key for the ST package is a 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine. With 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of twist, it brings the performance to another level. This output is even better than on some premium vehicles. An all-wheel drive is standard. The fuel economy is not much worse than with a four-pot engine, returning 19/26 mpg. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is a power router for both drivetrains, while the four-cylinder unit also uses the start/stop system.

2022 Ford Edge Pricing

The SE package is the entry-level model with the lowest price. The offer starts at $31,000. For the SEL, buyers must add more than $3,000, but we think it is a good investment with all the features this package is offering. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are the first things in the line coming to our mind. Titanium starts at $38,000. The Elite package costs $1,600. You can also change colors and spend another $3,000 for the AWD. Heavily loaded, Titanium trim will cost close to $50,000. The most expensive initial MSRP is for the 2022 Ford Edge ST. Brake package is optional, as well as the infotainment upgrade with a navigation and heated rear seats.

Competition

You can fold the third row in most midsize SUVs with such layout. That is not the same as the vehicles where two rows are the default configuration. Buyers usually opt for the compact crossovers. These will return a better gas mileage. On the other hand, mid-size Edge is spacious and more suitable for larger families. Sometimes five seats are not enough. That is why three-row models are more popular.

Still, we can find a few rivals of the 2022 Ford Edge. We already mentioned the Honda Passport and the Nissan Murano (wait for the redesigned model in 2022). Chevrolet introduced an old nameplate, Blazer, as the two-row midsize SUV. Hyundai Santa Fe is also a good option, although the Korean company recently added a three-row Palisade.
